Started out I searched and scoured the internet for hours on how to make money as a blogger. I found lots of posts on income reports and how to generically set up your blog. But I needed something more in-depth.
Blogging is a great way to make money online. It can be good for the introvert as an outlet to express themselves and give a unique viewpoint. For the extrovert, it is an even better way to reveal or portray their feelings or thoughts through writing.
Ideas on how to make money as a blogger
Discover your passions and determine if this is something you truly want to do. Turn your passion into a profit. Studies have shown that the most successful businesses are those where the owner or founder had a passion and turned it into a business. If you love writing, you can make money as a blogger.
Create a blog
Create a blog to showcase your writing skills and provide your unique perspective on topics. No matter the niche, if you are passionate about it, you can write or speak for hours on the topic.
Be sure to have the right platform such as hosting. I currently use Blue Host and they are in my opinion very reliable and a perfect solution as a hosting platform for blogging.
Choose your theme and customize to reflect your brand. There are tons of free themes on the market today. If you want something more personalized choose a premium theme. The choice is yours and you should have a theme that reflects your personality and brand you are conveying. I think a free theme is good to start out and then as you grow choose a personalized or premium theme. Don’t spend money you haven’t made yet my fellow blogger.
How to make money as a blogger with affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a great source of passive income for a blogger. Be sure to pick programs that you personally enjoy, have used, or would recommend. Do not just pick programs in hopes that they will make you money. Be strategic about the affiliate programs you choose. I currently use Amazon, Awin, Sovrn, Share-a-Sale, FlexOffers, Commission junction, Media.net, VigLink, and ClickBank. One of my favorites is Share-a-Sale. Learn how they can increase your sales, develop your brand, and generate interest in your site.
As you write post, think of ways you can optimize those posts with your affiliate marketing. There are various ways you can place your ads so that the reader gets to see them. I currently use them above the post and in the middle of the post with keywords optimized so that the right ads display. Do not show more than three ads per page so that your readers are not turned off.
What is it that you want to write about? Researching the right keywords is important when writing a blog post in which you want to optimize.
Think about it another way. If you wanted to know about this topic, what would you type in the google search bar to get results? Would you type one word or would you type a few words or even a question? The latter is what is called long tail keywords. Those perform better than one word or phrase keywords.
Use your keywords in your blog post title, in the first paragraph of your post, in subheadings within your posts such as H1 or H2 or H3. Also, any images you add to your posts, ensure that they too have the appropriate keywords attached.
How to make money as a blogger with social media
When you are setting up your business (and you see I call it a business because we are going to treat it like one) be sure to set up your social media accounts. Make the name similar to your blog name. Set up social media accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. Those social media accounts will drive a great deal of traffic to your blog.
Readers are your traffic. Traffic = revenue. So we know with that formula that getting traffic to your blog is extremely important.

When to post to social media is a question heard most often when making money as a blogger
When starting out you blog at whatever time you have to spare right? But as your blog grows you start to understand your readers and know when the optimal time is to post.
Here is an example of the optimal times I post on my social media accounts:
LinkedIn 7am-9am and 5pm-6pm
Pinterest 2pm-4pm and 8pm-1am
When to post on your blog
As a blogger, you will at the onset set goals on when you will blog and how often. The more you post, the most content your readers have to enjoy.
You should optimally spend 15-30 minutes a day writing down ideas for your blog. Either its blog post ideas or new categories. Get in the habit of always working and writing and building your business.
Set quarterly goals and plan your content quarterly. Determining how often you will post throughout the week is first order of business. I recommend posting 2-3 times a week. You can decide to write on fashion one day, home décor the next, and another topic on the third day. The choice is yours but be sure to plan it out.
